Defining glass recyclers
Within the glass recycling value chain, there are different levels of recyclers who interact with the company and with each other in various ways. Within the context of the BanQu platform, we have defined 3 levels of glass recyclers.
Level 1 – Definition
- Must be a registered vendor with Ardagh Glass Packaging (AGP).
- Buys glass from Level 2 and Level 3 recyclers.
- Delivers truckloads of recycled glass to AGP.
- Outside Gauteng and Cape Peninsula regions, must supply a minimum of 30 tons per load per month to AGP.
- Within Gauteng or Cape Peninsula, recyclers can deliver smaller loads of minimum 5 tons per load and at least 2 loads per month = total of 10 tons per month is minimum.
Registration
- Will receive application pack to register with AGP and will be loaded on BanQu automatically.
- BanQu will send supplier a link to register on the platform.
- Supplier must accept invitation to transact on BanQu.
Following documents to be uploaded on BanQu:
- A certified copy of ID.
- A valid B-BBEE certificate or affidavit.
Subsidies/Incentives
- Volume incentive
- Transport subsidy

Level 2 – Definition
- Mostly uses smaller delivery vehicles.
- Buys glass from Level 3 recyclers.
- Sells recycled glass to Level 1 recyclers.
Registration
- Must be invited by Level 1 or Level 2 buyer already on BanQu or click here to select a buyer to partner with.
- Can connect to more than one Level 1 buyer.
Following documents to be uploaded on BanQu:
- A certified copy of ID.
- A valid B-BBEE certificate or affidavit.
Subsidies/Incentives
- R100 per ton for every qualifying ton for the waste picker service fee is paid to the buyer
- No other AGP subsidies or incentives apply to Level 2
Level 3 – Definition
- Informal recycler who collects glass in trolleys or bags.
- Does not transact more than 5 tons in a day and no more than 30 tons in a calendar month.
- Can supply to Level 1 and 2 or other Level 3 recyclers.
Registration
- Must be invited by Level 1 or Level 2 buyer already on BanQu or click here to select a buyer to partner with.
- Can connect to multiple Level 1 or Level 2 buyers.
- A certified copy of ID (recommended for maximum benefit).
Incentives
- Waste pickers will be paid an additional R150 per ton for new glass they have brought into the supply chain and transacted on BanQu.

TO BE A DIRECT LEVEL 1 SUPPLIER TO AGP
- You must be able to supply a minimum of 3- tons per month.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
- Completed AGP Application form
- Company registration certificate( or if a sole trader, a copy of South African Identity Documents
- Certified IDS of all Directors
- VAT Certificate ( Compulsory)
- Current BBBEE Certificate ( SANAS Approved) BBBEE Sworn Affidavit
- If your company has no formal B-BBBEE rating and your annual turnover is less than R10M, please use Exempted Micro Enterprise.
- If your turnover is more than R10M but less than R50M, please use the Qualifying Small Enterprise, alternatively you can request it from the Ardagh Glass Packaging personnel.
- Latest Tax Clearance Certificate/TAX PIN Compliance
- Bank Confirmation letter or cancelled cheque not older than 3 months
